Notes

After ‣ we felt a bit defeated, as no one of the ideas we found stood out. After breaking away for lunch we decided to meet again and give ourselves some more time for brainstorming. We discussed, we tried to find a conversation starter. We had a couple of new thoughts, but nothing was really clicking as we were low on morale and slightly tired from the previous meeting.

Eventually, we decided to leave the apartment and go for a walk together, we started to take our minds away from work and chat about our lives. Eventually, the conversation went back to game ideas, specifically an idea that we found earlier in the afternoon: a multiplayer game where a player builds a dungeon while other players try to traverse it. It didn't click with us initially as we couldn't find any way to expand upon it, but with fresh and active minds we could see the potential in it and started elaborating on the concept. We started moving away from the multiplayer concept and pictured the game on mobile, and that is when it clicked: we could work on a game where the player fights in turn-based combat scenarios and at the end of each fight they need to choose how they want to expand the map that surrounds them. Hoplite meets Loop Hero. Hades meets Into the Breach. We explored ways in which we could expand on the idea further (special doors, different ways of drawing and expanding the map, characters for the player to meet) but we remained vague for the moment. In the end, we discussed how felt about the idea, how we could all see it working for the kind of team we have and possible research questions that could stem from it.

Actionable Items: design and illustrate different takes on the core concept and present them to the team for a discussion on how to make this real
