Today we created a combat prototype in Tabletopia. We established some ground rules and directions for the MVP of the very first prototype for the Combat System. The prototype included two different units with a different ability each, spawning enemies that chased the units and attacked them when possible. The units could also build three different room types as one of their actions. The player had to reach for objectives in the map, interact with them and then run back to the spawn.

We believe this approach to combat holds value, it's a very basic turn based combat system that could find its depth with the Building System.

We also playtested the prototype with a new user, inexperienced with games. The user described the game as an interesting "digital board game" where "you build bridges to reach your objectives" but "enemies block the road and slow you down". The user said that the game "is like tetris", as in "you need luck to find the pieces you want, but you're not frustrated if you don't find the perfect one". The user played without issues and could make informed choices in the game that seemed optimal and viable to reach their objectives.
